arc*B system flow chart showing CV and MIDI inputs, ArcMotion analysis, the modulation matrix, CV buffers, scene storage, event sequencing and USB MIDI output

ArcB is an advanced 16-input CV-to-MIDI/NRPN performance utility, modulation matrix, cv recorder and variable-stage sequencer. It transforms control voltage into expressive MIDI modulation, repeatable cv movements and complex event-driven sequences.

Originally conceived as a breakout device for arc*C, ArcB bridges banana CV systems with computers, USB-MIDI instruments and configurable MIDI/NRPN targets.

design architecture:

  • 16 physical CV inputs with three independent processing pages and cv buffers per input—48 configurable CV lanes in total
  • 48 simultaneous cv buffers
  • Up to 5 minutes 27.68 seconds per cv buffer.
  • Save and load cv buffers from preset storage.
  • Self generate random cv.
  • More than 4 hours 22 minutes of combined cv-buffer capacity
  • Cv capture and playback.
  • Three intelligent global page loopers
  • 18 seconds of global recording per page, or 54 seconds across all three pages
  • Global loops capture the final rendered output of all 16 lanes on a page
  • Up to 8,192 timestamped MIDI messages per global page loop, including notes, CCs, transport and NRPN component messages
  • Four continuous modulation destinations per CV lane
  • MIDI CC, 14-bit NRPN, pitch bend, channel pressure and polyphonic pressure output
  • One CV source can control multiple destinations simultaneously
  • Multiple CV sources can be intelligently merged into a shared destination
  • ArcMotion analysis derives level, velocity, acceleration, activity and direction modulation sources from incoming CV
  • Curves, inversion, quantisation, slew, deadband and output-rate transforms
  • Threshold, window, movement, direction and peak-event extraction
  • Four-track, eight-stage event-driven variable sequencer
  • Factory and custom scales, transpose, octave, swing, ratchets and accumulators
  • Independent sequence length, offset and order per track, with per-stage probability and gate behaviour
  • Clock-synchronised, start-synchronised and free-time gesture playback
  • Continuous A/B morphing of supported Scene mappings and processing parameters
  • Five complete Scene slots, each storing CV-to-MIDI/NRPN mappings, up to 48 gesture buffers, three global loops and their captured MIDI events
  • Generic MIDI, arc*C and custom device profiles
  • arc*C four-voice Constellation modulation
  • arc*C four-sequencer 8×8 Cartesian Terrain editor
  • Internal, MIDI Clock and automatic clock operation
  • Browser-based editor with live monitoring.
